Idaho driver's licenses are getting a new look

Boise, ID (CBS2) — The Idaho Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is launching a new driver's license design that will be on all new, renewal, and replacement cards.
The new card is being released to prevent counterfeiters and keep up with changing technology. This is a standard practice to periodically update the designs and security features on licenses. The Idaho DMV last changed the design of the in 2016.
“The new license showcases some of Idaho’s best features,” said DMV administrator Lisa McClellan. “Idaho’s state bird, the mountain bluebird, is featured prominently. Idahoans will also notice the Sawtooth Mountains and the Idaho Statehouse.”
Any licenses still be valid until they reach the expiration date that is on the card and will be replaced with the new design when you renew your license.
The new design will also be on other state-issued cards as well, such as identification cards, instruction permits, and concealed weapons cards.
